About Andres Candough DoughVine Bread

Community. Love. Loaf.
Andres Candough DoughVine Bread is a proud Arizona-based, Hispanic (Colombian) and veteran-owned artisan bakery established in 2024. What began as a passion for cooking and a gifted sourdough starter quickly grew into a business built around handcrafted artisan sourdough breads, baked goods, Colombian-inspired flavors, and, most importantly, community.

Every loaf we make is crafted with passion, quality ingredients, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the traditions and flavors that bring people together. Our mission goes beyond baking bread—we believe in creating meaningful connections with our local community, supporting fellow entrepreneurs and businesses, celebrating diversity and culture, and building relationships one loaf at a time.

Meet Our Founder — Andres Cano

Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, Andres Cano grew up in New Jersey surrounded by his parents, grandmothers, and two sisters. From a young age, Andres developed a love for cooking, spending time in the kitchen with his mother and learning recipes and culinary traditions from his Colombian heritage.
But cooking was not Andres’ only passion.
Growing up, Andres also discovered a love for the arts and began acting at a young age. His creative journey included work in various Off-Broadway productions, NYU independent films, movies, and print advertisements.
In his early twenties, Andres enlisted in the United States Air Force after earning his associate degree. He served for four years and was stationed in Phoenix, Arizona. During his military service, he focused on cybersecurity and database infrastructure—beginning a professional journey that would eventually lead him into a successful career in technology.
Andres went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a secondary degree in Information Systems, and a Master’s degree in Business from the University of Phoenix. He subsequently built a 20-plus-year career in technology, working with organizations including Amazon Web Services, Genesys, Trimble, and other corporate companies.
Throughout his technology career, Andres developed sales strategies, built integration partnerships, and helped organizations expand and strengthen their technology footprint.
Yet through all of those professional accomplishments, one passion never went away:
Cooking.

From a Gifted Starter to a Growing Bakery

In 2024, Andres received a sourdough starter as a gift from his close friend, Robin White, a successful woman entrepreneur who had taken up baking as a hobby. Knowing Andres’ love for cooking, Robin thought he would enjoy experimenting with sourdough.
She was right.
Andres began baking with the starter and soon started experimenting with bread flavors inspired by his mother’s recipes, Colombian ingredients, and the culinary traditions he grew up with.
What started as a hobby quickly became something much bigger.
Andres began developing recipes and flavors that brought together his love of cooking, his Colombian heritage, and his creativity. As people tasted his breads, word spread, and what began in a home kitchen evolved into Andres Candough DoughVine Bread.

From Cottage Bakery to Community Business

Andres Candough began as a cottage bakery with a simple goal: be part of the community.
Andres wanted the bakery to be more than a place that made bread. He envisioned a business that could bring people together through markets, collaborations, partnerships, and shared experiences.
That vision continues to guide the bakery today.
What started as a small cottage bakery has grown into a business supplying artisan breads and baked goods to restaurants throughout Arizona, retail locations, private chefs, and collaborative culinary projects with chefs and other local businesses.
Along the way, Andres has remained committed to supporting other bakers, entrepreneurs, chefs, and small businesses—because he believes that when local businesses support one another, the entire community becomes stronger.

Community. Love. Loaf.

Our motto—Community. Love. Loaf.—is more than a tagline. It represents who we are, how we bake, and how we approach growth. Community means creating connections, supporting local businesses, collaborating with others, and making sure everyone has a seat at the table. Love represents the passion and care we put into our craft, our heritage, our relationships, and every loaf that leaves our bakery. Loaf is what brings it all together. Bread is simple, familiar, and meant to be shared. A loaf can bring people around a table, start a conversation, celebrate a tradition, or create a new memory. At Andres Candough DoughVine Bread, we believe there is room for everyone at the table. We believe in inclusion, collaboration, diversity, culture, and creating opportunities for others. Our journey started with a sourdough starter and a love for cooking. Today, we continue that journey one loaf, one relationship, and one community at a time. Community. Love. Loaf.
